Women were winners but the Men slipped to 3rd.
There were enough athletes present to make a decent fist of the opening Home fixture, though the Men could not make it a 21st consecutive win and were edged into 3rd.
There were holes in both teams, but the Women were still too strong for the other teams this time - travel for the remaining 5 matches will tell! Wins for our lively Under 20s Nicole Kendall(100) and Layla(800) & Mae(200/400H) Thompson, plus another serious 400 effort from U17 Elle Butcher and a 4 x 200 success were the foundations. Contributions from Alex Bartle(HT),Sarah Harris,TM for the night Natalie Sacre(pb over 400 66.3) and Clare Nelson ensured we kicked off with a win.
The men were missing recognised throwers who would have made the difference,as we were only 5 points adrift of winning. Nonetheless,Chris Hall headed both 200/TJ,Justin Green won the 400(51.7) and Gordon Lester inched his way back to form in the Vault(3.80). There was a useful PB for U17 Phil Bearman at 800(2.05.3) and Andy Gordon,Ron Taylor,Peter Wilkins,Mike May(meeting a very late call for the relay),& Asher Nelson saw the team into 3rd,just behind winners SMR and Walton, and clear of the other 3 Clubs.
